AND THE DESERT WILL BLOOM
Pushkar. Eight days every year, the temple town turns into a beehive of activity. The annual Pushkar Camel Fair – the largest camel fair in the world – thousands of camels dot the sandy landscape and thousands of visitors fill every nook in town.
And The Desert Will Bloom is the story of two such visitors, Avi and Levana – a story set amidst the vibrant energy of the town through the eight days of the fair.
For Avi, an Israeli with Indian roots, his experience of the India that he loves is incomplete without a visit to the Pushkar Camel Fair. A fair that may cease to exist in a few years.
To Levana, the fair is a much needed respite after her harrowing search for her brother Noah. A search taking her to places in India very few Indians know about but which form a part of the Israeli Hummus Trail.
The story travels back to Israel’s historic rise as a nation after two millennia of nonexistence and its ceaseless battle to retain its identity even to the present day.
And The Desert Will Bloom is as much the budding love story of Avi and Levana as it is the poignant tale of Noah’s journey in India and the unexpected detour it takes when flashes of his past threaten to blindside him.
